Overview
Project summary: Writing error pages for a new website
Role: UX Writer
Collaborators: UX Designer & Developer
When writing error messages, it is crucial to let users know what went wrong and how to fix it.
It is also important to empathize, and not blame them - even if the problem comes from their end.
The process
For this project, I consulted with the developer to identify potential error triggers and how to solve them.
I then mapped out the user journey to understand their use context and emotions at every point of their interaction with the website. This helped tailor the tone of voice.
Furthermore, a good user experience needs all the elements working harmoniously. So, I worked closely with the creative designer to ensure the visuals and copy were in sync.
The result? Empathetic copy that communicates the problem and offers solutions while letting the brand personality shine through.
